Terms of Service
These terms cover your use of the hosted cardstock service at cardstock.guinetik.com, its API and its command-line client (the “service”). The service is run by João Guilherme Ribeiro de Sousa (Guinetik), an individual based in Brazil (“we”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
cardstock’s source code is published under the GNU General Public License v3. These terms govern the hosted service only; your rights to the code itself come from that license, and nothing here limits them.
Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to use the service.
- Give us an email address you control, and keep your password and command-line tokens to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at email@guinetik.com if you think someone else has access to it.
- One person per account. Accounts are not transferable.
Your content
What you put on cardstock (cards, comments, files and everything else) stays yours. You give us permission to store, copy, process and display it only as needed to run the service for you and the people you share it with, including sending it to an AI provider when you ask for a summary. That permission ends when the content is deleted, apart from backups that expire on their own.
A project belongs to its owner. The owner decides who is invited and can remove members or transfer the project to someone else, who must accept it. Work you contribute to someone else’s project stays part of that project if you leave.
You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. Export your work regularly; it is markdown, and the export exists for exactly this reason.
Acceptable use
Do not use cardstock to:
- break the law, or store content that infringes someone else’s rights;
- harass people, or send spam through invitations or notifications;
- distribute malware, or attempt to access accounts or projects that are not yours;
- probe, overload or disrupt the service, or get around its limits, including by scraping or automated abuse of the API;
- resell the hosted service without our written permission.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to export your work.
AI summaries
AI summaries are generated by third-party models and can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check them before relying on them. They are a convenience, not advice.
Price and changes to the service
cardstock is currently free and in beta. Features may change, appear or go away, and limits may apply. If we introduce paid plans, we will publish their terms before charging anyone, and nothing on your account will become paid without your explicit agreement.
Ending your use
You can stop using cardstock at any time and ask us at email@guinetik.com to delete your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk. If we ever shut the hosted service down, we will give at least 30 days’ notice so you can export your work.
No warranty
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do our best to keep it running and your data safe, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or never lose data.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, which for a free service is zero. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer where you live.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. If you use cardstock as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring a claim in its courts.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and for significant changes we will tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, stop using it and ask us to delete your account.
